People watching......

The stupidly unseasonable weather (I mean, 19 degrees Celsius in March... it's usually about 10 degrees cooler than that, hell it sometimes snows this time of year!) has lead to quite a lot of people round and about my home town shedding several layers of clothing.... which resulted in an increased level of people watching.

Okay now I'll admit that I people watch, very bad habit, particularly when driving (hell I animal watch too when driving which is probably worse!) .  Anyway, this evening someone muttered at me "lets go sit in the pub garden and have a drink after work"  Grand idea.  So a group of us wandered off to the pub, which is not too far away from the student/trendy area of town and grabbed a spot on the grass.

Now, people watching is particularly fun if you are in a mixed group.... and aren't straight males easy to wind up.  There were six of us, me, 2 straight female friends, 2 straight male friends and 1 gay male friend.  Now straight female friends have no problem whatsoever discussing the attributes of passing males, with our gay friend.  The rather frank discussions of their likes and dislikes was very amusing, and a little too much information for the straight males.  But more amusingly was their reaction when I join in with them when they decided to start talking about what they like about passing women...  it's not like they don't know where my preferences lie!

Mind you, it confused them further when I joined in with which attributes of passing males I liked the look of (which started due to something I said I wanted to do to a rather impressive half sleeve tribal tattoo down one man's arm).  I don't understand what the problem was, bit for some reason apparently I shouldn't even be interested in looking at men. Erm, why not?  Yeah, okay so different chemical/physical reaction these days but I can still appreciate the male form can't I (and it's not like I never went there!).

The human body is, to me, a remarkable thing no matter what sex it happens to be..... so yes, I will keep admiring! That said, it's due to be freezing again next week, so I'll probably have to wait till summer!

Midweek music.....

Yes, that time of the week when I cop out of blogging the mundane trivia that forms my life and throw music at anyone passing by.

Tonight was night 3 of my write 3 hours of this LiAW story a night week..... now, it was going really well, I was typing away, I'd sent what I'd done to a couple of people who kindly volunteered to check I was going in the right direction (one of which is an M/M author whose work I love which made me feel very very nervous at hitting the send button) but I got good feed back and yay, they liked, they want to read the rest... fantastic, I could do this, I had inspiration, I had motivation

I hit a sodding great big brick wall of "Ha! No words!!"..... So I switched off and phoned a friend, we've nattered for an hour or so and hopefully I will now be released from writing purgatory and allowed to crack on with it tomorrow......

not that I am sitting here looking at the calendar thinking Eep! 17 days to go.....

Ok, some music, I love the meaning behind this song (ok,I pretty much love the whole album I am happy to admit to this) but the idea of turning off the TV and waltzing round the lounge to the radio to reconnect is a happy one.....

It wasn't me....

..... I didn't do it!

Now I know I have these amazing powers to making things electrical go, erm, fizzz *bang* ... but that only applies to domestic items, like kettles, microwaves, power tools yes....

I can't possibly be held responsible for getting to the check out with my groceries on the way home from work this evening, having them put through the till and then, just as I am about to hand over the money............ all the electrics going off on the tills, the alarms sounding and the lights going off.........

It only took a minute for the back up generators to come on and power up the stores' tills, freezers and chiller cabinets.....

Whilst everyone else was looking a bit shell shocked and bemused I'm afraid to say I got the giggles, rather a lot......which earned me some very very strange looks as I was still giggling when I finally paid and got out the store!

Winding down...

... I wish!!

I do however feel like dancing about singing "four more days to go" as I am stupidly over excited about having some time off work.... my last days off (not including bank holidays) were before Christmas and it's been a very very long three and a bit months!

I haven't got anything exciting to blog about really... yes, my life is in fact even more boring than usual... mainly because I appear to be glued to a computer 10 hours a day working or writing..... my brain then ceases functioning and I have to go commune with the cats to chill out!

I am enjoying the writing, things are starting to come together and a couple of very brave volunteers are beta reading for me.... I have sent them the first half this evening to tell me if they think it's going in the right direction and I'm now sitting here waiting to hear back whilst I try control the nerves...

Ok, I'm waffling inanely (well, more inanely than usual) so I shall run away now......

On a more positive note...

I seem to be getting over the negative thoughts from the last week and am trying to look forward.

I have only one more week at work before I am off... and as a bonus, it's Easter week so I get 10 days out of work for the price of 4!  My little net sister is coming to stay with me for about 5 days during that time which will be excellent fun (though she doesn't realise yet a fair bit of it is going to be spent with her beta/proofing my LiAW story... )

This morning's dog walk wasn't fun... it was only just getting light, or rather it would have been, except you couldn't see anything through the fog, seriously, I could barely make out rent a mob on the end of their leads.  Ivan and Kammi weren't impressed that they didn't get a run off, but hey,  not loosing white dogs in the fog!

This evenings walk was better, well save for the gang of horrible teenage girls on the park who decided to yell abuse, but luckily my friendly neighbourhood dope dealer was on his bench in the park and insisted on walking me to the main road.  He's done it a couple of times when groups of kids have been giving me grief, and he's always really polite and friendly... as he says though it's his spot and he doesn't want any trouble on the park as he can do without the police round.

Between dog walks I've been chained to my lap top today and have put another 6000 words on the LiAW story ... we are getting there, I think I'm about half way through.. My characters are speaking to each other again thankfully!

Tomorrow will involve much of the same... and the clocks spring forward tonight onto British Summer Time.  Whilst the rest of the world moans that they are having to get up an hour earlier I shall be quite happy as the dogs get me up way to early anyway

A feeling pathetic post..

Some times I seriously wish I'd left the phone to switch to the answer machine!

I had every intention of writing this evening, sat down, opened screen, phone rang and I answered thinking it would either be one of three people - mother, Friend 1 (who I shared a house with for five years at and after uni 18 years ago and we still speak/text every single day) or Friend 2 (though the timing would be wrong as it was about the time she and the toddler were probably out-staring each other over the whole bed time routine)..... No, it was option 4, a mutual friend of mine and the Ex from Hell.

Now what I don't understand is that why, after 4 years (shit that long!), apart people would still think I actually had any interest in what she was doing....... I certainly don't care, that stopped long ago, possibly about the same moment the fist flew the first time..... but I think what's worse is they tell me what she's been doing and always then justify it with "but I never believed a word that she used to say about you being useless at everything/psychotic etc".... Yeah, really, well why the fuck didn't you say anything whilst she quietly dismantled my confidence and my life?

So after the call I am now trying to reaffirm to myself that I am a strong person, I can do things, I am not psycho or in need of committing, I am capable....

Trouble is I still feel emotionally fragile after Sunday and all I actually want is someone to give me a hug and look after me........ which makes me feel even more pathetic...

Can we fast forward to the end of this month please and chalk March up to experience?
