100 words.... the midweek edition....

For thirty years this has been our escape. Our fortnights break from the day job, visiting San Francisco.

Sure it’s changed over the years, but then so has home.

Back then, we risked everything for a few stolen moments in the dark; as far away from the bunk house as we could be. Now we live openly as a couple on the ranch. We share a family, a home, a life.

This year our holiday is different. Today we walk in the open, hand in hand along the main street, towards the Court House where we will celebrate our marriage.

100 words.....

By night we fly together, our bodies floating on the currents of the wind as we rise and fall under the light of the moon.  We dance in the sky, our feathers brushing as we pass close, the only touch we can have.

But at dawn it ends, by first light we are grounded. As the sun burns his wings away he returns to his fully human form, and then he returns to his lover and his mortal life.

Whilst I must watch over him, protect him day and night.  For me he is more precious than the crown jewels.

100 Words

After a hard week at work, there’s nothing quite like an evening at home. The three of us, snuggled on the sofa in front of the television. Jamie perched on my lap, his back warm against my chest. My hand drifted up to his shaved head, stroking the soft bristles.

He suddenly tensed, pushing back against me, his own hands fisting into the denim of my jeans. I slid my hands down to cover his eyes. When it was safe again I lifted them, fingers still entwined, to rest on his head.

“Those Daleks are still damn scary!” He whispered.

Their footsteps on the polished wooden floor echoed in the empty house.

“Finally!  A home of our own.”  Sam said as he pulled Josh into the front room, before pushing him back against the wall.  Bringing their heads close, he whispered. “I think we should celebrate.”

The keys in Josh’s hand hit the floor as Sam fell to his knees.

Not long after that Josh slid, boneless, down the wall to join him.

“So, that’s one room christened, only five more to go.” Josh smiled lazily.  The doorbell rang before Sam could reply.  “Maybe after the removal people have gone.”

100 words

This was the May photo prompt on the YA GLBT group on Goodreads.... I have half written a short story but this just kind of landed in my head......

I awoke with his warm body curled around behind me, as we balanced precariously on the single bed.  His arm looped over my own, holding on tightly.  His head lay against my back and with each breath he exhaled I felt its warm touch against the bare skin of my shoulder.

I could feel the smile on my face and a general feeling of warmth within me.  Despite the concerns I’d had the night before about what we were doing, this felt right.  As though this was how it was meant to be.  As if I had come safely home.

100 Words*

Hand in hand we waded into the sea, following the path of the setting sun.
When the water lapped around our hips we stopped and turned to face each other.
“Ready?” she asked, her hand coming up to brush against my cheek.
“Yes,” I replied, leaning into her touch.
Winding her arms around me she pulled me closer and we sunk into the water to float together.
The changes to my legs felt strange. Uncomfortable, but not painful.
Then, flashing our silver blue scaled tails into the air, we dived down into the deeper water to start our new life.

*100 words is the traditional length for a drabble - The purpose of which is to test the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space...... an evil minded genius (okay, a friend) suggested I should start writing some and blogging them .... she even fished through my photos on my pc to start me off with prompts.....so here you go!
